Automated Almond Processing Systems
GWI designs and manufactures almond processing systems and individual equipment for commercial processing operations. As part of GWI’s broader Processing Lines capabilities, each system is built around the stages the operation actually needs.
Equipment may include unloading and metering systems, G-FLEX scalping and fines removal, UVS density separation, almond sizing and grading, elevators, conveyors, weighing equipment, and bulk filling systems.
Optical sorting, metal detection, and X-ray equipment can also be integrated when needed.
GWI’s currently published almond-processing range is 5,000 to 60,000 lbs. per hour. Final equipment selection depends on the product, processing stages, target throughput, available space, existing machinery, and required product flow.
Systems can be planned for a new facility or adapted to an existing operation that needs additional equipment or processing stages.
Complete Almond Processing Systems or Individual Equipment
Some processors need a complete, coordinated line. Others need one piece of equipment or an additional processing stage. GWI supports both types of projects.
Complete Almond Processing Systems
A complete system brings the required processing stages together into one coordinated product flow. Equipment is selected around the product, target throughput, facility layout, and any required integrations.
Not every almond operation needs every processing stage.
Individual Almond Processing Equipment
Individual equipment can also be added to an existing line when a specific processing need has to be addressed. Selection depends on the processing stage, existing machinery, available space, product flow, and integration requirements.
Choose the Right Path for Your Almond Processing Project
Existing Facility Applications
Adding equipment does not always mean replacing an entire processing line.
For an existing facility, GWI can review the machinery already in place, available space, product flow, target throughput, and the stages that need to be added or changed.
The resulting configuration can focus on the equipment needed for the project while working with machinery that remains in service.
New Facility Applications
For a new facility, equipment can be planned around the almond product, required processing stages, target throughput, available footprint, and intended product flow.
The system does not have to follow a fixed sequence. Equipment and stages are selected around the needs of the operation.
This work covers the processing equipment and system configuration; it does not represent complete building design or facility construction.
Start With the Processing Need
If you do not yet know which equipment you need, start with the part of the process you want to address:
- Unloading and Metering
- Separation
- Almond Sizing and Grading
- Sorting and Detection Integration
- Conveying and Product Transfer
- Weighing
- Bulk Filling and Packing
Built Around Your Production Requirements
Product & Process Requirements
Target Throughput
Target throughput helps determine equipment size, selection, and product flow. It is considered as part of the overall system rather than treated as a single capacity figure for every installation.

How Almonds Move Through the Processing System
Receiving, Unloading & Metering
Almonds can enter the line through bin or bag unloading equipment and Surge Metering Systems. Metering controls how product is introduced to the downstream equipment.
Scalping & Fines Removal
G-FLEX scalping and fines removal can remove smaller material before the almonds move into separation, grading, or sorting.
Density Separation
UVS – Density Separation can be added when the process requires separation based on product density.

Why Choose GWI?
Expertise and Experience
GWI designs and manufactures processing equipment for commercial almond operations. Systems can be built around the product, processing stages, throughput target, and available facility space instead of forcing every project into the same equipment package.
Customer-Centric Solutions
A project can start with a complete new line or with equipment that needs to fit into an existing operation. GWI works with processors to review the machinery, footprint, product flow, and integration needs before determining the equipment configuration. Installation support and operator training are also available for the equipment being implemented.
Quality Assurance
Equipment and system requirements are reviewed for the intended application, and GWI systems are tested before leaving the factory. After installation, GWI can also assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment-customization needs as operations change.
